Fanjunkars Aleksis Kivi Siuntio pieniOn Aleksis Kivi-themed tours we visit the three places in Siuntio where Aleksis Kivi has left his mark on history: Fanjunkars, Sjundby Manor and Purnus Farm.

National writer Aleksis Kivi lived in Siuntio at Charlotta Lönnqvist's Fanjunkars croft from 1864-1871. Mademoiselle Charlotta gave him a home and the peace he needed to work. Kivi became familiar with Siuntio when he lived at Purnus with his brother in 1857-1858.

Numerous top-class restaurants and fascinating locations can be found to the west of Espoo. On each "Tastes of the countryside" trip, we visit three so that you can enjoy your hors d'oeuvre, main course and dessert in different places. Top chefs can be found working in some of the restaurants.

Our tour of the Porkkala Parenthesis is a great way to find out more about the history of this fascinating period in Finnish history.

It is now more than 60 years since the Soviet Union abandoned its naval base in Porkkala and the region was returned to Finnish rule. This so-called "parenthesis" period had a substantial influence on the districts of Kirkkonummi, Siuntio and Inkoo, and even on the City of Espoo. The moment when people were able to return to their homes was a very significant event in Finland's recent history.

Take a trip around the Inkoo archipelago!

We visit the island of Bågaskär where the Finnish Lifeboat Institution established an operations and training centre in 2009. Trainees are able to use the latest equipment in tackling the many challenges posed by the marine environment. Enjoy beautiful island scenery and a tasty lunch at a summer restaurant.
